Provide coaching instruction and facilitate organizational administration and leadership necessary to operate a successful collegiate sports program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Schedule team practices and competitions for each season. Plan, organize, and implement team practice plans. Coordinate team travel needs for away competitions. Oversee and follow team budget each season. Order team equipment and apparel. Track student-athlete’s academic progress. Coordinate with and assign duties for assistant coaches. Complete all necessary league eligibility forms, rosters, and coaching materials. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

This position is responsible for the supervision of all assistant coaches and team staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience

Four-year college degree, 3+ years in a head coach position at the high school or collegiate level. Strong leadership experience is required. Well-developed communication skills. Current coaching certifications and/or licenses with the respective governing body is required.

Driving Requirements

If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel.  Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
