Definition of Class

  • This position reports to the Director of Information Technology. The Cyber Security Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of the computer systems and networks. This includes implementing and maintaining security measures, conducting assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents and breaches. This position will also be responsible for educating employees on best practices for cyber security, developing and implementing policies and procedures to protect sensitive information, and working with cyber insurance providers. Applicants should have a strong skillset in networking and firewall technologies, and be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to these systems. The Cyber Security Administrator will be responsible for managing projects independently and also securing grant opportunities to support the ongoing improvement of the government's cyber security infrastructure. The position is also responsible for monitoring traffic and alerts, and for writing and maintaining a disaster recovery plan. In addition, they will serve as a backup for the network administrator and manage and maintain anti-virus and EDR systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the security and integrity of the government's computer systems and networks
  • Implementing and maintaining security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software
  • Conducting security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities
  • Responding to security incidents and breaches as they arise
  • Educating employees on best practices for cyber security
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the security of sensitive information
  • Working with cyber insurance providers
  • Having a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, as well as experience in cyber security and network administration
  • Having strong skills in networking and firewall technologies and being able to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to these systems
  • Being able to manage projects independently and having experience securing grants
  • Monitoring traffic and alerts and writing and maintaining a disaster recovery plan
  • Serving as a backup for the network administrator and managing and maintaining anti-virus and EDR systems

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and two years of experience; or a technical degree and 4 years of experience in a progressive IT environment.
  • Must have a Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications are a plus

Supervision Received

  • Work is performed under the direction of the Information Technology Director
