Job Overview
The City of Portsmouth Public Works is seeking a professional and customer-focused Customer Service Representative to join our team. This role is responsible for providing high-quality service to residents and visitors by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and supporting departmental operations.
Responsibilities
- Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and in person in a timely and professional manner
- Provide accurate information regarding city services, programs, and procedures
- Assist residents with requests, forms, and service-related issues
- Document customer interactions and maintain records in internal systems
- Resolve complaints or escalate issues to the appropriate department when necessary
- Maintain a positive and helpful attitude while delivering excellent customer service
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous customer service or administrative experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, data entry systems)
