Customer Service Associate (PRN - Flexible Daytime Availability Preferred)

JOB SUMMARY:

As the first person many patients, families, and visitors meet when they arrive at Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital, the Customer Service Associate plays an important role in creating a positive experience from the moment they walk through our doors. This position is responsible for greeting visitors, answering phones, managing visitor access, and providing outstanding customer service while helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment.

About the PRN Schedule:
This is a PRN (as needed) position and does not have a guaranteed weekly schedule. Customer Service Associates provide coverage for vacations, planned absences, and other staffing needs. Candidates must be available to work at least two shifts per month and provide their availability in advance. Our greatest need is weekday daytime coverage, although occasional evening and weekend shifts may also be available. Because this position provides coverage based on hospital needs, successful candidates are those with the flexibility to make this role a priority when shifts become available. Applicants seeking a consistent part-time or full-time schedule may find this position is not the best fit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Welcome patients, families, visitors, and vendors in a friendly and professional manner.
• Answer and direct incoming phone calls.
• Check visitors in, verify identification, and issue visitor badges according to hospital policies.
• Provide directions and general information to patients, families, and visitors.
• Maintain visitor access procedures while ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative departments.
• Handle confidential information with discretion (HIPAA compliant).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area.
• Provide exceptional customer service while enforcing hospital policies with compassion and professionalism.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous customer service, receptionist, front desk, administrative, hospitality, retail, or healthcare experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional, compassionate, and service-oriented attitude.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable with excellent attendance and reliability.

PRN (As Needed) 

Primary Need 

• Weekday daytime availability

Possible Shift Times 

• Monday through Friday:
• • 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Occasional weekend shifts:
• • 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Minimum Availability 

• Must be available to work at least two shifts per month.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

These include stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, pulling, pushing, standing, carrying and lifting of light loads (up to 35 lb.) as necessary.
