JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION:

CUSTODIAN w/Bus Driving

RESPONSIBLE TO:

CAMPUS DIRECTOR EDUCATION: High School Diploma or G.E.D.

CERTIFICATION:

CDL School Bus Drivers License

EXPERIENCE:

Experience is general custodial work in a non-domestic facility.

SKILLS:

• Operation of cleaning tools and maintenance skills.
• Ability to read instruction and maintenance specifications.
• Ability to use good judgement.

OTHER:

• Knowledge of safety procedures and practices relating to custodial duties.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials.
• Knowledge of "Material Safety Data Sheet" and how to read them.
• Knowledge of "Right to Know, Hazardous Communications Legislation."
• Knowledge of "Bloodborne Pathogen" restrictions.

DEPENDABILITY:

• Regular attendance following a designated work schedule.
• Must be able to work different shifts as the job requires.
• Must be able to attend meetings/conferences as scheduled by the campus director of the ICTC district.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL STANDARDS:

• Ability to read and comprehend operating manuals,
• Reference materials and material safety data sheets (MSDS).
• Ability to meet and confer with individuals or groups concerning technical cleaning problems.
• Requires lifting, handling of parts, supplies and equipment.
• Ability to work around dust, fumes and other exposures related to the job.
• Not present a risk of injury to self or others while engaged in School District duties.
• Must be able to operate equipment necessary to do custodial and maintenance duties.

EMOTIONAL EFFORT:

• Low to moderate.
• Must be able to successfully deal with changes in assignments and properly respond to complaints.

PERSONNEL CLASSIFICATION:

LENGTH OF CONTRACT:

12 Months; C12 salary schedule (Add 2 Steps for CDL & Bus Driver Certificate

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

• Responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the assigned district buildings, fixtures, furniture and equipment in first class condition.
• Work cooperatively for the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform maintenance and cleaning of all campus buildings and classrooms, and bus driving*. Assignments include, but are not limited to:

1. Perform maintenance on equipment and facilities as required.

2. Drive the school bus or vehicles as required*.

3. Empty and clean all waste receptacles.

4. Clean grease/chalk boards and erasers.

5. Sweep laboratory and shop areas as required.

6. Clean drinking fountain and wash basins.

7. Fill towel and soap dispensers as required.

8. Dust and/or mop as needed.

9. Vacuum carpets, spot clean as necessary.

10. Clean windows/window sills.

11. Dust furniture, cabinets, and fixtures.

12. Clean hallways and walls.

13. Clean restrooms and restroom fixtures.

14. Replace light bulbs in overhead fixtures and other locations as necessary.

15. Scrub floors and carpet as needed.

16. Strip, wax, and/or buff tile floors as required.

17. Turn off lights in unused areas.

18. Report vandalism, damage, items needing repair, or unusual conditions to the Director.

19. Participate in periodic evaluations of performance.

20. Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be required to accomplish the essential job functions as directed.

21. It is expected for employee to be on time each workday as this is essential to the employee's job.

22. Other jobs/tasks as described and requested by administrator.

RELATIONSHIPS INTERNAL:

• Furnish support services for teachers in assigned areas to provide a pleasant clean learning/working environment.
• Maintain good communications and work cooperatively with other custodians, or Campus Director.

EXTERNAL: Maintain a good positive attitude toward patrons.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Make suggestions for improving the productivity and performance of custodial duties.

2. Recommend cleaning products and equipment to improve the quality of the custodial duties and to make it easier.

3. Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as directed by to appropriate supervisor(s) or administrator(s).
