POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  Under the guidance and supervision of the Facilities Director and Custodial Coordinator, the Custodian is responsible for ensuring that the Y is clean, safe, sanitary, tidy, functional and attractive by completing all assigned duties during their work shift.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. At least 18 years of age.

  2. Alarm/Emergency Procedures training within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.

  3. CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention training within 90 days of hire and biannually thereafter.

  4. Experience with cleaning and custodial tasks is preferred.

  5. Ability to perform essential custodial duties and responsibilities.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

All Custodians are expected to fulfill the following functions:

  1. Sweeping, mopping and dusting

  2. Trash removal and recycling

  3. Cleaning windows, mirrors, sinks, toilets, walls, partitions, floors, etc. 

  4. Replacing, paper products, soaps, and other supplies as needed

  5. Setting up and taking down chairs and tables for events as needed

  6. Operating vacuums, carpet cleaners, floor scrubbers and other equipment as needed

  7. Maintaining appropriate finish and appearance on waxed, tiled, wooden and carpeted floors

  8. Checking temperatures, settings and other indicators and responding appropriately 

  9. Accurately maintaining and submitting time sheets on time as required

  10. Communicating, cooperating and complying with shift lead, coordinator and Custodial Director


In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities, Custodians will:

  • Pursue/participate in ongoing skills training

  • Participate in the annual campaign by assisting, giving, and/or campaigning

  • Attend required staff meetings

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.

  • Attend required abuse risk management training.

  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.

  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.


WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
