The Wausau School District is seeking a Custodian II to support our mission to advance student learning, achievement and success, with primary emphasis on cleaning, maintaining, and servicing the Wausau School Forest and Rib Mountain Elementary School. Hours will be approximately 6 hours at the School Forest and 2 hours at Rib Mountain Elem. There is a 16 week period starting in January that we''ll need to ajust the workday times to accommodate the student sleepover schedule at the School Forest.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Complete required cleaning schedule for the areas assigned within the time provided.
- Know and understand cleaning procedures for assigned area.
- Use and operate equipment. Know procedures and methods required to clean assigned areas for both routine and project cleaning.
- Observe maintenance and cleaning needs for the building and report those needs and irregularities to the proper personnel.
- When required, accept the responsibility of closing and securing the building, setting the alarm, turning off lights, and any other task the building may require.
- Move furniture and equipment as required for various activities, or as directed.
- Perform preventative maintenance on related equipment to job function.
- Ability to fluently communicate with community members, coaches, teachers and other building occupants during after or before school activities.
- Ability to read. understand and articulate safety information, labels and programs.
- Many are not available in any other languages and due to their proprietary nature, cannot be readily translated.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Help and/or direct others in completing an assigned work area.
- Perform related duties as assigned or directed by the Head Custodian, supervisor, or principal.
- Set up for activities that result from building use.
- May at times be required to remove or help remove snow.
- May be required to outside duties as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to routinely lift up to 60 lbs., and occasionally over 100 lbs.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. Over shoulder level.
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, kneel, and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to push, pull, and crouch on a regular basis.
- Ability to climb, reach, and maintain balance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Moderate noise levels associated with the use of vacuums and other cleaning equipment.
- Extremes of temperature - usually room temperature, with some exposure to outdoor temperature, freezers, boiler rooms, etc.
- Possible hazards exist with the use of cleaning equipment, scrapers, body fluid clean up, chemicals, and the use of assorted tools.
- Daily exposure to chemicals.
