Job Title  Custodian Department Maintenance Reports to Maintenance Director and Building Principal FLSA Non-Exempt Length of Contract  Job Summary Keep buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition and perform other custodial duties as required. Essential Duties Service clean and supply restrooms and cafeterias as assigned.Clean building floors by sweeping mopping scrubbing or vacuuming.Gather and empty trash.Operate power equipment such as wet-vacs scrubbers buffers or other equipment that is used in building maintenance.Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.Prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.Clean windows glass partitions and mirrors using appropriate supplies and techniques.Notify supervisors concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems.Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.Dust and clean furniture walls machines or equipment. Strip seal finish and polish floors.Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.Steam clean or shampoo carpets.Move heavy furniture equipment or supplies either manually or by using hand trucks.Remove snow from sidewalks driveways or parking areas using appropriate toolsequipment or by spreading snow melting chemicals.Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours setting alarm systems or checking to ensure that hazards are not created that may result in injury to others.Set up and arrange furniture staging or other equipment to prepare facilities for school events.Make adjustments to heating and cooling systems.Drive school vehicles as required to travel to or to perform cleaning work.Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment neglect or abuse.Report suspected bullying to building principal or designee as required by Arkansas law and district policies.Adhere to all policies of the District.Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director or Building Principal Qualifications To accomplish this job successfully an individual must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation each essential function satisfactorily.
