Job Description
General Overview
Under immediate supervision performs custodial and cleaning duties in County buildings. Operates cleaning equipment and utilizes and assortment of hand tools, mops, vacuums, and waxes floors. Cleans restrooms, hallways, stairs, elevators, etc. Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities listed below.
• Six (6) months of cleaning and/or custodial experience or equivalent combination of training and/or experience. • May be required to possess a valid State of Ohio drivers license or have the ability to travel to and access the various work sites.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Basic knowledge of floor care procedure, equipment commonly used in custodial work, safety practices and procedures, cleaning practices and procedures, and material used in cleaning. • Ability to operate floor care equipment demonstrates physical fitness, lift, and carry trash containers. • Indicates developed after employment.
Job Duties
The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification.
• Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, buffs, and spot cleans floors, hallways, and stairs. • Vacuums carpeting, moves, and rearranges furniture. • Operates floor scrubbers and buffers as required. • Dusts chairs, tables, file cabinets, shelves, bookcases, and other equipment. • Washes light fixtures, windows, walls, woodwork, Venetian blinds, doors, trash cans, waste baskets, empties trash and ashtrays. • Cleans and maintains supply of cleaning materials in supply room. • Cleans and sanitizes restroom areas, supplies paper products to restrooms, cleans toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, bathroom partitions, restroom fixtures, and tile. • Checks building doors, windows, and alarm systems to make certain the buildings are secured.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to independently travel to and access the various assigned work sites.
Typically requires lifting, sitting, walking, standing, bending, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, seeing, and performing repetitive motions using hands to finger, handle, or feel.
Requires various types of physical exertion such as prolonged bending, stooping, and lifting, walking on uneven terrain, ice, snow, mud, and driving vehicles and/or equipment for long periods of time.
Employee is required to reach with hands and arms, climb, and balance, move, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly from one location to another.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
