Summary
Custodial Worker 1 perform manual work involving a variety of housekeeping and domestic tasks to assist in the maintenance of buildings. Duties include cleaning restrooms and offices, washing windows, removing trash, vacuuming carpets and mopping floors. Incumbents are responsible for the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and in caring for buildings and equipment.
Responsibilities
Cleans all assigned areas as assigned. Changes trash liners and cleans garbage cans in residents'' rooms, nursing stations, and other general areas. Moves furniture, arranges chairs and tables for meetings or in-services. Cleans walls, window sills, bed frames, closet doors, water fountains, toilets and fixtures, television, chairs, mirrors, and similar furniture and equipment. Performs routine daily cleaning of occupied residents'' rooms and required intensive cleaning of unoccupied residents'' room as assigned. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience
Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
Education
High School diploma is strongly preferred.
Skill
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

Working Conditions
Physical Requirements - Job functions requires extended walking or standing. Must be able to climb stairs/ladder, stoop, bend, crawl and perform repetitive motions as needed. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Must be able to lift , push or pull objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Function requires visual acuity to perform job related activities such as: operating machines or motor vehicles and performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a repetitive and non-repetitive nature.
