CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR - CLERMONT COUNTY FACILITIES MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT

Type: Full-Time Permanent (Classified)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Probationary Period: 180 Days

Salary: Negotiable depending on qualifications or experience (Minimum $23.25)

Core Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

JOB DUTIES:

Under general supervision, oversees the day-to-day management of the custodial program and services for all county facilities. Supervises, schedules, coordinates, and assigns work of custodial workers; establishes standard operating procedures; provides direction and training; develops work schedules; approves/denies leave; evaluates work performance; recommends discipline; interviews and recommends hiring of staff. Ensures work complies with quality standards and department policy. Monitors work completion for quality and quantity; identifies problems and implements corrective action. Maintains routine and specific communication with tenants and customers to assure customer satisfaction. Research and respond to inquiries and/or complaints; initiate response/follow-up, monitor status, ensure timely resolution. Prepares for and conducts custodial staff meetings.

Maintains supply/equipment inventory and requisitions needed supplies/equipment. Plans and implements preventative maintenance programs. Prepares and maintains records, reports, and other required documentation regarding work.

Meets with Facilities Director/Assistant Director to address the development and progress of custodial services. May assist with preparation of budget as relates to the custodial program and expenses.

May perform a variety of manual unskilled and semiskilled tasks to assist with and ensure cleanliness of facilities. May perform routine maintenance and repair tasks. May assist with snow/ice removal.

Works alone or with other persons in short or long-term team projects to resolve problems or conflicts in any area of operations or to complete assigned projects at the direction of supervisor or Department Head when assigned. Works aggressively to reduce or eliminate safety/risk concerns in current position or work location. Reports safety/risk management issues to immediate supervisor. Participates in cross-training and maintains proficiency in area of cross-training as necessary. New and other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED. Associate degree in Facilities Management or similar field desired. Also requires two years of custodial work and minor maintenance and repair experience. Knowledge of supervising, leading, or mentoring others; paid work experience in supervising general/ custodial/maintenance operations is preferred. Knowledge of equipment, chemicals and other materials used in custodial services; custodial methods and techniques; preventative maintenance and custodial work programs. Ability to delegate work equitably and fairly. Knowledge of safety practices and procedures and ability to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Ability to communicate effectively; work independently or as part of a team; and maintain effective working relationships with others. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

May be exposed to dirt, dust, varying temperatures and dangerous equipment. Moderate to heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, stooping and bending. Works in close proximity to motorized equipment and tools; requires normal vision and hearing acuity. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
