South Dakota State University (SDSU) Student Life Building Services is looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Custodial Services Supervisor within University Housing and Residential Life.

This position is located in Brookings.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Job Responsibilities:

This position plans, coordinates and directs the daily activities of facility workers to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards across campus facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, assigning tasks, inspecting work, training new employees, and ensuring compliance in operational standards. This role requires strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills to manage a team, respond to customer requests and contribute to overall efficiency and effectiveness of Student Life Building Services.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Inventory tracking methods
  • Commercial custodial work techniques
  • Proper use of chemicals and equipment
  • Effective supervisory methods
  • Microsoft Office programs

Skill & Ability to:

  • Clean floors, bathrooms, showers, carpets and walls
  • Establish and maintain effective supervisory relationships
  • Plan and schedule work to meet competing deadlines
  • Supervise, train, monitor and evaluate work of facility workers
  • Operate and repair cleaning equipment
  • Complete special assignments
  • Work independently
  • Lift and carry up to 65 pounds
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Required License: Valid driver's license is required.
