Aquila Technology is looking for a highly skilled Curriculum / Instructional Designer to support one of the nation’s leading defense research organizations. The teams overall mission is to identify and counter security threats to the orgs mission of development of game-changing technology in support of national security, including guarding against compromise by foreign intelligence agencies and insider threats. As the Curriculum/Instructional Designer you will be responsible for supporting the orgs Security Education and Awareness Program, developing and presenting education material in a variety of formats to meet org and Government requirements through lesson plans, computer-based courses, and slide presentations. Scheduling and briefings/classes, organizing external and internal speakers, advertising education events, maintain security education websites, track databases and forecast future education requirements. And conducting security incident trends, analysis, identify ways to improve education needs for all org personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement security education programs tailored to the specific needs of the DoW. This includes Computer Based Training, presentations, posters, pamphlets and other means of conveying security relevant information
  • Coordinate training sessions and workshops on security protocols, procedures, and best practices
  • Ensure that all personnel are educated on classified information handling, cybersecurity measures, physical security protocols, and other relevant topics
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess training needs and address any gaps in industrial security knowledge or compliance
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of security education programs through assessments and feedback mechanisms
  • Stay up to date on changes in security regulations, policies, and threat to continuously improve educational materials
  • Provide guidance and support to personnel regarding security awareness and compliance issues
  • Plan and execute all aspects of the Annual Security Education and Awareness Month

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education or similar (or at least 5 years of proven experience)
  • Experience with public speaking to a variety of small and large audiences
  • Experience with eLearning authoring software
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically PowerPoint

Preferred Skills:

  • Regulatory compliance experience: The ability to read, understand and apply government regulation, policies and procedure from the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), 32 CFR Part 117
  • Computer skills: Familiarity with security management software, such as SIMS and government databases such as DISS (Defense Information Security System). Knowledge of business software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Office, etc. Articulate 360, Learning Management Software (LMS), SAP software
  • Industrial Security: Experience working in a classified environment and understanding government regulations

401K with Fidelity - Eligible to participate following 90 days of employment. Company match on employee contribution:

  • $1/$1 up to 3%, then .50 cents / $1 for 4th and 5th %s
  • Fully vested from day one
  • Company match does not apply to catch-up contribution

Cell Phone & Internet Reimbursedup to $150 monthly to cover cell phone, data, and home internet expenses. Aquila Technology will reimburse team members who work from home ONLY for cell phone/mobile device fees for work-related communications and/or operations each month. Employees eligible for this benefit must work remote 2 days a week or more to qualify.

Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) - Team members are eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,500 every three (3) years for the purchase of electronic equipment used to access corporate services. To qualify for this benefit, employees must have completed a minimum of six (6) months of employment and must agree to and sign the Device Minimum Configuration Form prior to reimbursement. Electronic devices eligible under the Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) program are limited to cell phones, laptops, and tablets.


Location: This position will be a hybrid position. It will initially be be 4 days onsite while person gets up and running. Once someone is settled in, we would consider 3 days onsite and 2 remote.

Clearance Level: Interim clearance is acceptable to start

Interview Process: first round zoom screening with the manager, then a second round in person interview with the pertinent team members. In person interview will include a presentation of work that will be prepared ahead of time.
