Overview

Bowhead seeks a Curriculum Developer to join our team supporting NIWC Atlantic. The Curriculum Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating instructional materials that align with organizational goals and the learning needs of the program. They will work closely with software developers, system engineers, and subject matter experts (SMEs), to create engaging, effective, and measurable learning experiences across various delivery formats for technical systems.

This position is 100% onsite. No hybrid/flex or remote work schedules are permitted for this effort.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop curriculum, course content, and instructional materials for in-person and self-paced Navy and Marine Corps learning environments
• Travel to remote sites and present the material and ‘Train the Trainer’
• Collaborate with team members to translate technical or complex information into clear, learner-friendly content
• Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and training requirements
• Establish learning objectives and ensure alignment with program goals
• Apply instructional design methodologies to develop effective learning solutions
• Create supporting materials such as field manuals, workbooks, physical media or virtual content
• Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics and update content as needed
• Ensure all materials meet quality standards, compliance requirements and military instructional guidelines
• Manage multiple curriculum development projects and timelines simultaneously
• Stay current on learning trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve curriculum offerings
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, or technical field
• 3–5 years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or training development with Navy and Marine Corp learning environments
• Strong understanding of learning objectives and instructional design frameworks
• Experience developing content for various delivery methods
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Basic familiarity with Agile management and development practices
• Ability to support high-visibility or mission-critical aspects of a program and perform functional duties under general guidance and supervision.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a project team.
• Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, and a strong willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the at the Secret level.

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift, move, and position equipment in both indoor and outdoor environments, including on uneven or natural surfaces.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to lean, crouch, twist, bend, and squat as needed to inspect or analyze network infrastructure.
• Must be able to work outdoors in deployed environments and perform duties in adverse weather conditions, including cold, rain, snow, and heat.
