Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose
The App State Academy at Middle Fork is a UNC System lab school operated by Appalachian State University in partnership with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. It's an innovative learning community that is committed to creating pathways and opportunities for lifelong learning and positive community impact.
The Curriculum Coach leads instructional improvement across their grade level span by implementing evidence-based practices that increase student engagement, achievement, and teacher effectiveness. This role collaborates with teachers through co-planning, teaching, and assessment, supports professional growth, and fosters a reflective, culturally relevant learning environment while contributing to the school's leadership team.
Minimum Qualifications
License/Certification Required
Hold or be eligible for a NC teaching license in elementary education, K-6

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Curriculum Coach serves as the instructional leader of their grade level span. They are responsible for bringing evidence-based practices into classrooms with the goal of increasing student engagement, improving student achievement, and building teacher capacity. The Curriculum Coach facilitates a learning environment that promotes team members to think deeply and critically about learning that is meaningful and relevant to their students' culture, lives, and future. They focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding of research-based effective instruction. The Curriculum Coach leads, supports, and participates in co-planning, co-teaching, and co-assessing within their grade-level span, working collaboratively with teachers to design instruction, analyze student learning, and implement responsive supports that meet the needs of all learners. The Curriculum Coach models professional behaviors conducive to building a collaborative and collegial working environment that is centered on team teaching. They also serve as a member of the Academy's leadership team.
Job Responsibilities & Duties

All candidates must be eligible to work and live in the U.S. Appointment Type 1.0 Work Schedule/Hours Monday-Friday, 7:15 a.m.-3:15 p.m. At times this position may require more than the workday to perform the essential duties of this position.
