Culture and Outdoor Adventures Manager

The Four Seasons Resorts Lna'i is looking for a Culture and Outdoor Adventures Manager who shares a passion for excellence and who infuses enthusiasm into everything they do. Our teams' have the opportunity to shape our guest experience by providing exceptional knowledge of the Resort and exemplifying the Golden Rule in each interaction. Work authorization required.

What You'll Do

The Culture and Outdoor Adventures Manager oversees the daily operations of UTV and Jeep tours in Lana'i, focusing on providing safe, informative, and culturally enriching experiences for guests. The manager is responsible for leading and developing the tour guide team, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining high guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

• Team Leadership and Development: Manage, train, and develop a team of cultural tour guides (for both Jeep and UTV tours) to ensure they are well-versed in Lanais history, culture, and environment, and deliver exceptional guest experiences. • Comply with all Four Seasons standards, philosophies, and requirements. • Operational Management: Oversee the scheduling, logistics, and daily operations of both cultural Jeep and UTV tours, ensuring smooth transitions between activities and adhering to tour timings. • Proficient in diagnosing performance, safety, and mechanical issues with vehicles. • Skilled in diagnosing UTV mechanical and electrical systems. • Safety and Regulations: Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and instruct guests on proper Jeep and UTV operations. This includes conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and implementing safety protocols for both tour types. • Cultural Interpretation: Deep knowledge and understanding of Hawaiian culture and Lanai are preferred to ensure the cultural tours accurately reflect and share the rich heritage of the island with guests. • Guest Interaction and Satisfaction: Actively engage with guests, respond to inquiries, resolve problems and complaints, and ensure high levels of guest satisfaction throughout the tour experience. • Resource Management: Manage and maintain tour equipment, facilities, and resources for both Jeep and UTV operations, including purchasing and preparation. • Program Development and Evaluation: Plan and develop appropriate programs and activities for both Jeep and UTV tours that align with guest interests and offer educational and engaging experiences. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and plan new activities to meet changing demands. • Communication: Maintain effective communication with guests, team members, management, and other relevant stakeholders, according to Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

What to Bring

Successful candidate must possess legal work authorization in United States (unless the candidate is currently in a managerial position at another Four Seasons location as they may qualify for a L-1 Visa sponsorship). Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and push/pull as needed during shifts. Weekend and Holiday availability required.

Experience: Previous management experience in tourism, outdoor activities, or a related field is preferred. Knowledge: Solid understanding of Lanais cultural and environmental aspects, and outdoor activities related to Jeep and UTV tours. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to engage effectively with guests and team members. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assess risks, identify issues, and implement appropriate solutions. Adaptability: Ability to work in various outdoor conditions and handle unexpected situations with professionalism and flexibility. Technical Skills: Proficiency in using Book4Time (tour management system) and basic computer applications like word processing and spreadsheets. Valid Drivers License: Required for operating tour vehicles.
