COURSES - Health Science I - Health Science II - Nursing Fundamentals QUALIFICATIONS Required - NC Teaching Certification - Health Science Education - RN 720 - Unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse - The 40-hour New Teacher Induction Program approved by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Division of Career and Technical Education. - NOTE: Required before the end of first year of teaching. - Two years industry-related work experience within the past five years. - Work experience must be in a related work field. Examples of Related Degrees - Nursing Examples of Related Work Experience - Nursing - Post-secondary nursing instruction (if clinical instruction is included in responsibilities) Skills & Abilities - Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, prioritize projects, plan starting and ending deadlines, and successfully bring closure to projects. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Ability and desire to seek and pass on knowledge to others in an educational/learning environment. - Proficiency in common computer desktop applications required. RESPONSIBILITIES - Develop lesson plans based on the North Carolina Career & Technical Education Essential Standards Guide. - Cover all parts of the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) Nurse Aide I (NAI) curriculum and help students to prepare for the National Nurse Aide Assessment (NNAAP). - Introduce students to medical terminology, the history of health care, healthcare agencies, ethics, and legal responsibilities. - Introduce students to health careers, holistic health, and healthcare trends. - Create lesson plans to teach students health care skills, including CPR and first aid training for healthcare professionals. - Provide normal maintenance of equipment to ensure that inventory is up to date and available. - Utilize classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate. - Use appropriate techniques and strategies which promote and enhance critical, creative, and innovative thinking capabilities of students. - Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. - Follow all safety procedures.
