POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides efficient and courteous service to customers by operating, monitoring, processing and completing tasks with the cashier station, food station and gas pump stations. In all interactions, the position is responsible for providing STAR Experience to guests and fellow team members a first priority.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide prompt and courteous service to guests and assuring their visit in our store is a pleasant one, and to retain them as a regular guest.

  • Greet customers with a smile, be friendly, and offer prompt service.
  • Knowledgeable about the products and services we provide.
  • Answers a variety of customer complaints and grievances in a professional manner.
  • Practice the suggestive sell.
  • Shows genuine concern when unable to fulfill customer’s needs.
  • Offer alternatives or route them to an area where their needs can be met.

Operates computer till system in a proficient manner to ensure accuracy in billing and cash handling.

  • Ensures the correct item and cost is entered into till system to keep inventory accurate.
  • Follows till procedures and cash handling procedures to assure accuracy in sales receipts.
  • Ensures that impressed bank is accurate.
  • Accountable for daily sales proceeds and deposit.
  • Accountable for daily sales receipts and till tapes to be sent to auditor.
  • Maintains cigarette and lottery count.
  • Prepares items for deli as necessary.
  • Adhere to all tribal, city, county, state, and federal alcohol and tobacco regulations.

Responsible for the cleanliness and orderly appearance of the entire store.

  • Keeps till area and entire display area neat and orderly.
  • Responsible for cleaning, sweep and mop floors, dusting, stocking shelves, rotating merchandise and checking inventory levels.
  • Inspects merchandise to assure it is bar coded and priced correctly. Reports any discrepancy to management.

To provide a positive attitude in preparing food orders while maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment as set by food safety codes. This will ensure the highest level of guest service.

  • Organizing area for daily operation by keeping all work stations clean to ensure sanitation standards are being met and ensure all product is stocked in dry storage, refrigeration storage and freezer storage.
  • Prepare food orders by the set recipes provided and complete orders in a timely manner for guest satisfaction.
  • Follow portion control per set guides.
  • Deli Equipment – to ensure proper functioning of equipment utilize the Equipment temp form to log equipment temperatures daily.
  • Keep track of waste and food spoilage by utilizing the Waste log form.
  • Cross contamination.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Minimum of three-month related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum age: 18+ years old.

Certificates, Licenses & Designations

Must meet licensing requirements as prescribed by the Tribal State Compact for Gaming.

Must obtain SERV Safe License.

TIPS Training.

Must obtain C Operator License for Fuel Safety.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

·       Knowledge in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, percentages and decimals.

 

·       Knowledge of, or ability to use, the following machines and/or equipment: POS system, calculator, cash register, lotto machine, pricing gun, gas pump console, grill, deep fryer (is used), cleaning equipment and supplies.

 

·       Ability to read and comprehend instructions and memos.

 

·       Ability to perform cash handling techniques in a proficient manner.

 

·       Ability to operate a computerized till system in a proficient manner.

 

·       Ability to stand for long periods of time.

 

·       Ability to reach above shoulder height, to stoop, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 20 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

·       Work is performed in a store setting where noise levels can be moderate to loud.

 

·       Occasional exposure to cigarette smoke.

 

·       Minimal exposure to blood borne pathogens.

 

·       Occasional exposure to dust.

 

·       Occasional exposure to cleaning solutions.

 

·       Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions of extreme hot or cold temperatures.
