The Cameron School District is dedicated to fostering independence and providing comprehensive educational opportunities for students with diverse needs. We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Special Education Teacher for our specialized classroom serving students with significant intellectual, physical, and developmental disabilities.
The Special Education Teacher will instruct students in a primarily self-contained, high-needs classroom focusing on functional academics, daily living skills, communicative competence, social skills, behavioral/emotional supports, vocational skills, and pre- and post-high school transition. Key duties include implementing and managing Individualized Education Programs, delivering functional academic and life skills curricula, utilizing assistive technology for student independence, and implementing behavior intervention plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- IEP Implementation: Develop and implement rigorous, data driven IEPs for students with significant disabilities, including tracking progress on goals.
- Instructional Support: Teach functional academic skills, vocational skills, daily living skills, and social skills tailored to individual needs.
- Behavior Management: Implement positive behavior supports and crisis intervention techniques to ensure a safe learning environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to ensure consistent support.
- Data Collection: Maintain daily documentation of progress, behavioral incidents, and health-related data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in special education or related field.
- Valid Wisconsin teaching certificate in special education. We are willing to work with candidates to obtain proper licensure.
