Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher to join our Heritage Elementary School team. This educator will provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in grades K-4 ensuring access to rigorous curriculum in inclusive learning environments.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of 6 special education teachers and will play an integral role in a strong co-teaching model designed to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with grade-level standards

  • Provide specially designed instruction in inclusive settings, or in small-group or 1:1 settings

  • Serve as a co-teacher in general education classrooms, sharing instructional planning, delivery, and assessment responsibilities

  • Monitor student progress and use data to inform instruction and IEP goal development

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families

  • Support positive behavioral interventions and inclusive classroom practices

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid Wisconsin Cross-Categorical Special Education license (or eligibility for licensure)

  • Knowledge of IEP development

  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in co-teaching environments

  • Background in inclusive practices

  • Experience supporting students with a wide range of academic and behavioral needs
