Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher to join our Heritage Elementary School team. This educator will provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in grades K-4 ensuring access to rigorous curriculum in inclusive learning environments.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of 6 special education teachers and will play an integral role in a strong co-teaching model designed to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with grade-level standards
Provide specially designed instruction in inclusive settings, or in small-group or 1:1 settings
Serve as a co-teacher in general education classrooms, sharing instructional planning, delivery, and assessment responsibilities
Monitor student progress and use data to inform instruction and IEP goal development
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
Support positive behavioral interventions and inclusive classroom practices
Qualifications
Required:
Valid Wisconsin Cross-Categorical Special Education license (or eligibility for licensure)
Knowledge of IEP development
Strong instructional and classroom management skills
Preferred:
Experience in co-teaching environments
Background in inclusive practices
Experience supporting students with a wide range of academic and behavioral needs
