Outpatient Rapid Observation Center (OROC) - Critical Care Technician

About the unit:

  • 19-bed closed observation unit - focus on the following diagnoses:
  • Chest pain, Syncope, COPD Astha Exacerbation, Pneumonia, TIA, UTI, AKI, Dizziness & Peripheral Vertigo, ESRD and Missed Dialysis, Cellulitis and Intractable Nausea and Vomiting.
  • Plan of care focused on discharging patients safely with protocolized care pathways within 24 hours
  • Increased nurse autonomy in facilitating care plan with support of Charge Nurse and Throughput Nurse
  • Designated provider team (MDs/ APPs) available with Care Management support

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the RN provides age-appropriate care. Unified by the core purpose of creating a healthier community one person at a time, the members of the Division of Patient Care Services commit themselves to sustaining a culture focused on achieving optimal patient outcomes.   • With guidance and oversight of the Registered Nurse, performs duties to support the daily care and mobility of the patient.
  • In a team relationship, gathers data relevant to the individual needs of the patient and/or family and immediately reports status to appropriate personnel.
  • In conjunction with patient assessment performed by licensed professional staff, performs selected advanced procedures.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and accountability in the Critical Care Tech role.
  • Complies with LifeBridge patient safety mission, policies, and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid CNA Certificate from the Maryland Board of Nursing
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a CNA, or 6 months experience as a Medical Corpsman, EMT, or comparable positions, or currently enrolled in an accredited RN BSN program - must have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing and one semester of adult acute care clinical requirement
  • Current Health Care Provider Certification from the American Heart Association
