UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor is excited to welcome a passionate and driven casual Crisis Technician I to our Crisis Residential Unit (CRU team!

Safe Harbor's Crisis Residential Unit (CRU is an 8-bed facility designed to provide an alternative to inpatient behavioral health care. Our multidisciplinary team-comprising registered nurses, CRNPs/PAs, master's level therapists, technicians, and a discharge specialist-works collaboratively to offer comprehensive services such as medication management, therapeutic support (both group and individual, and essential referrals for ongoing care.

As our ideal candidate, you will possess a high school diploma and bring a strong desire to learn. While prior experience in behavioral health or crisis- related settings is a plus, it is not required. We will provide comprehensive training upon hire to ensure your success in this role!

This casual position will work a schedule of primarily weekends, with shift flexibility to accommodate first, second and third shift schedules. Some holidays as needed, and occasional weekdays to cover full-time staff when needed. The dress code is business casual and free on-site parking, ensuring a comfortable and convenient work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support daily living needs, hygiene, and crisis intervention.
  • Provide counseling using recovery-focused, strength-based methods.
  • Collaborate on treatment planning with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain safety and therapeutic environment.
  • Complete documentation and participate in staff meetings.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • B.S. degree preferred.
  • Crisis experience preferred.
  • Consistent ability to respond calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • Provide direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent mentally ill residents including lifting, supporting, running toward or away from areas where problems are occurring, and pushing or pulling equipment.
  • Flexible schedule; rotating shifts.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Act 31 or Act 126 - must be obtained within 90 days. ASIST Certification to be obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer. CPR within 30 days of hire or transfer
