POSITION SUMMARY: Facilitate learning and assess student performance for simulated tactical skills activities for Criminal Justice students. Promote a learning atmosphere in the tactical skills classroom/lab/simulation area. Maximize the operation of the tactical skills lab/simulation area and validate the performance of student's skills. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned):

 

(100%)  Instruction

•    Provide guided practice, adjust instruction based on student feedback, address special learning needs, provide corrective instruction, assist students with learning activities, adapt instruction to students' various learning styles and answer student questions.  

•    Assess student affective performance, assess student cognitive performance, assess student psychomotor performance, assess students' ability to integrate skills, and validate students' performance of tactical skills and exercises.

•    Provide the Criminal Justice Instructor(s) with informational feedback regarding tactical and simulated activities. 

•    Assist the Criminal Justice Instructor with the maintenance of student records.  

•    Provide feedback to students and the Instructor(s) about problems/progress

•    Manage classroom/laboratory, enforce school policies, develop and present safety procedures, and establish classroom procedures. 

•    Promote a learning atmosphere in the tactical skills lab, which encourages effective work habits and provides a safe, clean, and orderly physical environment.  

•    Serve as a resource person for students. 

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

•    High school diploma or equivalent is required.

•    Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice or a related discipline is strongly preferred. 

•    Two years of recent relevant work experience in the appropriate tactical skills area and a proven record of tactical skills competence and the evaluation of those skills is strongly preferred.

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:

•    Certified or Certifiable as a Wisconsin DOJ General Law Enforcement Instructor.

•    Additional relevant Wisconsin DOJ Certifications preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
•    The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. 
•    The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
•    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
•    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
•    Work environment may require multi-tasking.  
•    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 

 

CONDITION(S) OF EMPLOYMENT:

•    Employment conditional on completion of a Background Information Disclosure (BID) and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with the results acceptable to the College.

•    A valid Wisconsin driver's license is required.
