GENERAL SUMMARY
This position reports directly to the Chair of Criminal Justice within the Center for Career & Technical Education and works collaboratively with other discipline faculty. The Dean for the Social and Behavioral Science & Public Safety and Legal Services Pathway serves as this position's second-level supervisor.
The primary purpose of the Assistant Professor for Criminal Justice is to deliver high-quality instruction across Criminal Justice courses while maintaining academic rigor, equity, and workforce relevance. In addition to teaching, the position actively participates in college and departmental service, including curriculum development, assessment, advising, and shared governance. Central to this role is a strong commitment to student success, retention, and completion through inclusive, student-centered pedagogy and meaningful engagement with a diverse community college population.

Service
It is the expectation of the college that faculty will continue to be active scholars in their chosen field. They should continue to pursue their academic growth by taking formal academic courses or by attending conferences and workshops and otherwise reading, exploring and enriching their knowledge of the developments in the field of Criminal Justice.
Faculty should also be a leader in the community. Faculty often serve as liaisons on local boards or commissions, often providing valuable leadership to the community as a whole.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CRJ: Criminal Justice: General
Criminal justice courses are Career and Technical Education courses. Faculty and instructors must have a CCD CTE credential to teach in the field. The following are the minimum requirements to teach:
