We are seeking a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney with prior litigation experience who is motivated to grow professionally while playing a meaningful role in a high-performing, growth-oriented practice. This position offers significant courtroom exposure, early responsibility, and the opportunity to contribute to the continued expansion and success of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony matters in Illinois courts
- Manage a full caseload from intake through resolution, including trial preparation
- Analyze cases strategically and execute effective defense plans
- Draft motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda with precision and efficiency
- Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and trials
- Negotiate with prosecutors and manage case progression effectively
- Maintain organized case files and ensure timely movement of matters
- Contribute to overall firm efficiency through strong case management practices
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to support workflow and operational goals
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing in Illinois (additional jurisdictions a plus)
- 1–3 years of criminal defense, prosecution, or comparable litigation experience required
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and a high level of accountability
- Ability to manage a demanding caseload with efficiency and attention to detail
- Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presence
- Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills
- Professional judgment and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in contributing to a growing, performance-driven practice
- Fluency in Spanish very desirable
