Position Function:
The Crime Analyst performs specialized analytical, technical, and administrative work in support of law enforcement operations. This position collects, analyzes, and interprets crime data, intelligence, and related information to identify crime patterns, trends, and offender activity. The incumbent prepares analytical reports, maps, and statistical summaries to assist in criminal investigations, strategic planning, resource deployment, and crime prevention initiatives.
The position requires effective collaboration with law enforcement personnel, other City departments, and external agencies while maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism. The Crime Analyst exercises sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail while working under deadlines and changing operational priorities.
The incumbent is expected to maintain positive working relationships, provide courteous and professional customer service, contribute effectively as a member of the department, and respond constructively to supervision and organizational needs.
The Crime Analyst performs other related duties as assigned and must possess the physical, mental, and cognitive abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
