PGS Worldwide is seeking a Creo Design Specialist in Phoenix, AZ for a one-year contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Creo Design Specialist will create mechanical and electromechanical concepts, models, drawings, layouts, and drawing packages for heavy vehicle structures and related components. This role requires current Creo experience, fully parametric modeling, fully associative drawing creation, and strong drafting/design experience with heavy vehicle, welded structure, machining, ASME, and military specification exposure.
Required Skills
- Associate degree or certification with emphasis in engineering drafting/design, or equivalent training and experience.
- 6+ years of drafting and design experience.
- 2+ years of design work.
- Current Creo experience required.
- Experience creating model-centric, fully parametric models and drawings in Creo.
- Strong understanding of fully associative drawing creation.
- Experience preparing drawing packages to military or ASME standards.
- Experience creating mechanical or electromechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, or products.
- Ability to prepare moderately complex design layouts, schematics, sketches, test plans, procedures, or specifications.
- Ability to review layouts, drawings, procedures, test documentation, and engineering change documentation for clarity, completeness, standards compliance, and dimensional accuracy.
- Ability to evaluate drawings, specifications, and procedures for producibility, tolerances, fits, finishes, materials, and equipment integration.
- Ability to perform and document technical calculations, including design evaluations, tolerance studies, mass properties, section properties, and static/dynamic loading.
- Ability to identify assembly interference, design errors, omissions, and deficiencies.
- Ability to recommend design revisions and improvements.
- Ability to interface with internal customers to solve moderately complex technical problems.
Preferred Skills
- Heavy vehicle experience, such as military, construction, or agriculture vehicles.
- Experience with heavy welded structures.
- Welding and machining process experience.
- ASME and military specification experience.
- Defense environment experience.
- Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, quality, vendors, and customer design reviews.
What You'll Do
- Create mechanical and electromechanical design concepts for components, assemblies, tools, and products.
- Build Creo models and fully associative drawings.
- Prepare design layouts, schematics, sketches, procedures, specifications, and drawing packages.
- Review engineering documents for compliance with standards, procedures, specifications, calculations, and dimensions.
- Evaluate designs for producibility, tolerances, materials, finishes, fit, and integration.
- Perform tolerance studies, mass/section property calculations, and static/dynamic loading evaluations.
- Identify design issues and recommend improvements.
- Work with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers on design specifications.
- Provide technical consultation related to design and drafting.
Work Schedule / Shift
- 9/80 schedule.
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Overtime expected as needed, up to 10 hours per week.
