The Creative Media Manager is responsible for creating engaging content and collaborating to set digital distribution strategy in support of the Colorado Mesa University Athletic Department. This position will advance the brand of Maverick Athletics, its programs, and student-athletes through a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to conceptualizing and producing content for social media, recruiting, television or digital distribution to service individual athletic programs and the Department as a whole. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

OVERVIEW AND ROLE SCOPE OF TEAM AND/OR TASKS

ROLES

  • Assist in the creation, management, and execution of a digital content strategy for all Colorado Mesa University Athletic Programs, including weekly video series/updates, competition previews and recaps, special projects and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with CMU University Marketing and Communications Department, along with media partners to enhance CMU Athletics brand through innovative and engaging digital content creation.
  • Produce print materials for promotion of camps, recruitment of prospective student-athletes, corporate sponsorship signage at events and venues, and select department fundraising events.
  • Highly skilled in editing software with the ability to fully produce high-quality graphics and videos for use on the athletics website, video streaming, and recruitment materials.
  • Experience working with a variety of media formats and multimedia files and working knowledge and experience with digital recording equipment.
  • Proficiency in using social media and video platforms including but not limited to Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube and have an advanced understanding of social media and digital trends.
  • Familiarity in graphic and video design utilizing Adobe products including InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro and After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and DiVinci Resolve.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE FOR RIGHT FIT

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Two years working in collegiate athletics is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or comparable editing software.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The language skills include:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general written materials, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and prepare and conduct verbal and visual presentation of materials. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, public groups, and board of directors.

REASONING ABILITY

Strategic and analytical reasoning skills are necessary. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
