We are seeking a detail-oriented Craft Payroll Assistant to join our Accounting and Payroll team in Castleton, NY.
Position Overview
The Craft Payroll Assistant is responsible for working directly with our Payroll Manager to complete the accurate and timely processing of payroll for union and non-union craft employees working across multiple collective bargaining agreements and prevailing wage jurisdictions. This position offers the opportunity to develop specialized expertise in construction payroll, with a clear path to grow into a more senior role over time.
Responsibilities
- Collect, review, and verify daily field timecards for accuracy and completeness
- Process weekly payroll for union and non-union craft employees
- Administer payroll across multiple collective bargaining agreements and union requirements
- Support certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance
- Coordinate with superintendents and field personnel on hours, pay codes, and corrections
- Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation
- Organize payroll files and support audits and reporting requests
- Assist the Controller with accounting related functions during slower payroll cycles
- Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll and recordkeeping processes
Qualifications
Required
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred
- 1-3 years of payroll, accounting, administrative, or related office experience
- Familiarity with union payroll, prevailing wage requirements, or collective bargaining agreements
- Experience with construction payroll software such as Viewpoint, Foundation, or Sage
- Construction industry experience
- Additional education or relevant certifications
Compensation & Benefits
- $50,000-$62,000 annually, depending on experience
