The Education, Interpretation, and Volunteer Section (EDPV) provides statewide formal and informal educational programs and activities to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) customers (internal and external) and constituents (hunters, anglers, outdoor recreationists, schools, etc.); develops organizational statewide partnerships with internal and external stakeholders regarding shared/common interests (participant recruitment and outreach, resource conservation, education, etc.); recruits, trains, and coordinates the use of volunteers statewide in a variety of activities and programs relating to Colorado's wildlife, outdoor recreation resources, and the management of those resources. The statewide programs within EDPV are: Education, Archery in the Schools, Volunteer, Hunter Education, Hunter Outreach, Angler Education, Wildlife Viewing, Interpretation, and School Programs.
Description of Job
The new, full-time position is the coordinator and content expert for Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) distance learning program, expanding the agencys capabilities to engage with staff and the public through use of online platforms including live and recorded virtual programs and trainings, educational video development, website development and maintenance, and consultation with staff on the use of different types of online engagement tools for educational purposes.
Distance Learning Program Coordination
Create and facilitate synchronous and asynchronous virtual programs, either in a virtual studio or out in the field with CPW staff. Coordinate and schedule programs for diverse audiences including school groups, libraries, educators and staff across the state of Colorado. Maintain and update the virtual studio, and technology used by field staff, to deliver these online and interactive programs, collaborating closely with IT to ensure compliance, and operating the technology as needed for online training and workshops.
Resource Development and Maintenance
Develop a variety of online educational tools and resources that align with CPW's Strategic Plan and priorities. This includes scripting, filming, and editing educational videos for classrooms, training, and social media use. Maintain and update the internal and external websites for the EDPV section, and collaborate with the Work Unit, and the Communication's Team, to develop a variety of online resources that support interpretation, education, and wildlife viewing, utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud or similar approved software to ensure Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are met.
Consulting and Training
Support CPW staff with the development of online educational resources, use of online education tools, and understand digital platforms, such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), to organize, manage, and track educational programs and trainings offered. This support includes individual consulting, development of best practices and guidelines, and offering peer evaluations and feedback. In addition, developing and co-facilitating training for staff who provide synchronous and asynchronous virtual programs in the field, including providing feedback and recommendations for improvements. This position would also support the EDPV section with meeting Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and assisting with more complex remediations for online resources.
Program Standards and Evaluation
Serving as a subject matter expert in distance learning, this position involves continuous research into emerging technologies, national and state trends, and best practices for both synchronous and asynchronous educational models. To ensure Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) maintains high-quality online programming that evolves with audience needs, the position will routinely develop and examine program evaluations to provide actionable recommendations for growth and enhancement. Additionally, the role provides ongoing guidance and feedback to staff facilitating live virtual programs to foster consistent quality across the agency.

Six (6) years of relevant experience in Natural Resources, communications, marketing office administration, training or an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years
