POSITION SUMMARY:

The 16th Judicial Circuit is seeking Full-Time Bailiffs. Bailiffs are responsible to the judge presiding for the smooth day-to-day operation of the assigned courtroom, including the orderly movement of citizens before the court bench, maintaining order in the courtroom, and coordination of all matters as assigned by the judge. In jury courts, the Bailiff is additionally responsible for the needs and care of the jurors while maintaining complete decorum and discretion. Every Bailiff will be required to assist with the check-in procedure of citizens fulfilling their service as jurors. All Bailiffs are subject to reassignment to different courts as needed. Candidates must possess experience, or a willingness to develop skills, in dealing with the public directly, problem solving, and enthusiasm for public service.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to cooperate and maintain a good work relationship with co-workers.
  • Patience and tact in assisting a wide constituency, including judges, attorneys and pro se litigants.
