    Summary

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Schedules and monitors Court case calendar and master, daily and special dockets

    • Answers questions regarding Court cases and procedures for defendants, attorneys, bondsmen, and the general public

    • Prepares documents for court proceedings such as court orders, mechanics of notice, and memos

    • Prepares memos and other correspondence for the judge

    • Determines defendant eligibility for court-appointed representation and appoints attorneys

    • Coordinates case transfer to other courts

    • Maintains schedules, statistical data, and records for judges and attorneys

    • Performs related duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice or a closely related field and three (3) years of court operations or administration experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • Good knowledge of court procedures and case flow management; knowledge of indigency requirements

    • Skill in communicating effectively with hostile, abusive, or irrational individuals; skill in analyzing legal information

    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to operate a personal computer and basic office equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, judges, attorneys, outside organizations, the news media, and the public

    • Must secure and maintain valid Texas Certification in Trial Court Management within two years after employment

    • Required to be on-call 24 hours a day

    • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance

    • Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test

    • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek

    Working Environment and Physical Demands:

    • Working conditions are in an office environment

    • Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10 pounds

    • Occasionally move about the office

    • Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information

    • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery

    • Positions self to perform essential functions

    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position
