The Job
The San Bernardino County Communications Team is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented County Marketing Specialist* to assist with a variety of marketing support such as event planning, graphic editing and design, website content, and assisting with project development and implementation. The position may assist in the development and monitoring of event and outreach budgets; assist with the concept and copy of brochures, fliers, posters, ads and other media; collaborate with various county department staff on department updates and content as needed; assist with programs and campaigns, take photographs and video, as well as write and distribute news releases and other materials.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Incumbents must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, work history verification, as well as a job-related physical exam and drug screening.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.
Work Schedule: May be required to work occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays for special events as needed.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college level coursework in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business/Public Administration or closely related field.
Note: A list of coursework or transcripts must be submitted with the application, if the applicant does not possess at least an Associate degree in one of the fields listed above; unofficial legible copies of transcripts are acceptable.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time marketing work experience planning events/outreach activities, or maintaining an organizations websites and social media or managing marketing campaigns.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business/Public Administration or closely related field. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including use of proper grammar and ability to edit others written materials and experience working in a government/public sector setting are desirable.
