Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Cost Engineer to track and control costs across EPC industrial projects. The role involves utilizing EcoSys, Procore, Excel, and Power BI for job cost tracking and reporting. You will manage budget vs. actuals, forecasts, and cost trends on multi-year capital programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain EACs (Estimates at Completion) and ETCs (Estimates to Complete) to ensure accurate financial projections.
  • Identify cost variances and risks early, escalating issues to project leadership.
  • Support change management, including change orders, budget adjustments, and cost impacts.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Operations, and technical teams to align financials with execution plans.
  • Deliver clear cost reports, dashboards, and forecasts for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Project Controls Execution Plans and company standards.
  • Act as a trusted cost advisor, driving continuous improvement in cost control practices.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience as a Cost Engineer for utility projects.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in cost forecasting, budget management, change management, and cost/risk trend analysis.
  • Experience applying Earned Value Management (EVM) principles, including CPI (Cost Performance Index) and SPI (Schedule Performance Index) reporting and analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with JDE and/or EcoSys required, Procore preferred.
  • Ability to translate complex cost data into clear, actionable insights for project leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in project-based capital environments (not manufacturing or corporate accounting).
  • Proven ability to identify and mitigate cost variances and risks.
  • Capability to deliver clear and concise cost reports and forecasts.

Work Environment

This is an in-office role located in Paramus, NJ, where you will be part of a small Cost Engineering team. You will be provided with your own laptop and desk. The team collaborates closely to leverage comprehensive resources for delivering solutions in energy infrastructure projects.

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $158000.00/yr.
