LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Cost Accountant for a growing organization that values accuracy, financial insight, and operational excellence. The Cost Accountant will play a critical role in analyzing manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, budgeting, and financial reporting to support strategic business decisions. This position partners closely with operations, supply chain, production, and finance teams to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve profitability, and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and maintain product costing, labor costs, overhead allocations, and inventory valuations.

  • Prepare monthly cost accounting reports, variance analyses, and management reporting packages.

  • Monitor manufacturing and operational expenses, investigating cost variances and recommending corrective actions.

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities related to inventory and cost accounting.

  • Reconcile inventory accounts and ensure accuracy of perpetual inventory records.

  • Assist in the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities.

  • Review and analyze standard costs, recommending updates as necessary.

  • Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to improve inventory controls and operational efficiencies.

  • Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.

  • Develop ad hoc financial analyses and reporting to support leadership decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 3+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis.

  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, QAD, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling.

  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across departments.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing industry experience.

  • CPA, CMA, or progress toward professional certification.

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
