Corrosion Testing Specialist

Day Shift M-F 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Corrosion Testing Specialist to join their laboratory team in Jackson, MI. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for candidates with a scientific background who are looking to build hands-on laboratory and testing experience within a professional manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing multiple responsibilities, and following laboratory procedures with accuracy and consistency.
Position Overview
The Corrosion Testing Specialist is responsible for conducting physical testing methods, preparing and planning testing projects, maintaining laboratory equipment and records, and supporting laboratory quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to follow testing specifications and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical testing according to established methods, procedures, and specifications
- Prepare and maintain testing documentation and laboratory records
- Maintain laboratory equipment and support calibration, validation, and verification activities
- Monitor laboratory supplies and maintain an organized work environment
- Support preventative maintenance and quality initiatives
- Assist with gage R&R studies and method validations
- Troubleshoot testing and equipment issues as needed
- Cross-train across multiple laboratory functions and testing procedures
- Support long-term testing projects within the Quality Control Laboratory
- Communicate project updates and findings with internal teams
- Follow all laboratory safety standards and PPE requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry preferred, or Bachelor’s degree with 8-16 chemistry credit hours required
- 0-3 years of related experience
- Laboratory experience through school or previous work experience required
- Exposure to wet chemistry techniques including titrations, pH, conductivity, density, and volumetric analysis preferred
- Basic understanding of analytical instrumentation and spectroscopy principles
- Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, or MIL standards is a plus
- Knowledge of laboratory quality standards such as ISO17025 or ISO14001 preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
