Registered Nurse (RN) – Contract-to-Hire

Location: Dayton, OH 45417 (State Correctional Medical Facility – All-Female Population)
Pay Rate: $45–$50/hour
Schedule: 36–40 hours/week | Rotating shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd) | Rotating weekends

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive medical care within a state-operated correctional medical facility. This role focuses strictly on medical care (not mental health) and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, secure environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to patients/inmates in an institutional medical setting
• Monitor, assess, and document patient symptoms, reactions, and progress
• Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations as prescribed
• Perform nursing rounds and record vital signs
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid or coordinate hospital transfers
• Monitor patients in restricted environments and ensure timely wellness checks
• Perform specialized procedures such as:
• • IV therapy, wound care, oxygen therapy
  • Dialysis, blood transfusions
  • Tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, phlebotomy
• Develop and review care plans; educate patients on health practices
• Assist physicians with diagnostic evaluations
• Lead or assist in “code blue” emergency response teams
• Supervise or direct LPNs, aides, or other healthcare staff as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and medication inventory (including controlled substances)
• Coordinate appointments, prescriptions, and external medical services

  Schedule & Work Requirements

  • Must be available for all shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd)
  • 36–40 hours per week
  • Rotating weekends required (must work at least one weekend day per week)
  • Hours will be assigned at the start but may change based on facility needs
  • Mandatory overtime may be required to ensure full shift coverage
  • Flexibility is essential as schedule and shift assignments may vary
  
  

  Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Strong clinical knowledge of nursing procedures and regulations
  • Ability to work in a structured, secure environment
  • Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills

  • This is a secure correctional facility (all-female population)
  • No personal items allowed (including cell phones, tobacco, vapes, etc.)
  • Must pass through a metal detector
  • Food/drinks must be in clear containers only
  • Maximum of 1 gallon of water permitted
