Division: Security Department at Eastern Louisiana Mental Health Systems in Jackson, LA
The mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs provided include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric services are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana.
ELMHS is looking for Correctional Lieutenant Therapeutic who are passionate about supporting patient care while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. In this unique role as a CLT, you will combine learned skills to help manage clients, de-escalate challenging situations, and promote safety and healing in a clinical setting.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in a forensic, behavioral, correctional, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, clinical care or rehabilitation of offenders.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
In this job you will:
Coordinates and provide supervision daily to a team of CGTs in the execution of duties assigned to the Security Support Services (SSS) department. Assign duties by radio dispatch and telephone communication.
Monitor employees to enforce the correct method of escort procedures and restraint application to ensure safe transport and avoid hostage situations, escapes, or other unusual occurrences.
Perform and supervise subordinate staff in security and safety procedures such as: controls introduction of contraband by performing searches of all staff, visitors, patients, and buildings at designated times and/or randomly.
Schedule clinical referrals and legal appearances for judicial criminals to the various courts statewide by conferring with clinical staff to ensure medical appointments are scheduled and performed in a timely manner.
Assign security escort for trips both on and off campus.
Maintain the following:
two (2) separate appointment books and distributes schedules to ELM HS buildings and Villa Feliciana Sick-bay units.
a daily roster of CGTs work schedules and assignments
a file on all patients containing information needed to accompany clients to the various clinics and courts, i.e. face sheets, medical court orders, medical hospital cards, etc.
a daily log sheet of dispatched radio calls to ensure that work load is distributed equal among shuttle officers.
Assist in managing the fleet of vehicles assigned to the Security Support Department.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: The position may be filled as a Probational Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency-wide permanent status employees); or Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected.
Compensation: Special Entrance Rate (SER) FULL-TIME: Corrections Lieutenant Therapeutic $21.27/hourly $1,701.60/Bi-weekly. Specialty Pays: Various premium pay also available for each hour worked for full-time employees.
