Hiring Range: $54,891 - $65,873 Annually

Range Explanation:

Provides quality assurance and oversight of the health resources provided by statute and law to detainees at the Pima County detention facilities including, but not limited to medical, dental, and behavioral services.

Essential Functions:

  

As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Work assignments may vary depending on the department’s need and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the supervisor.

  • Monitors vendor compliance with business requirements, conducts audits of performance indicators and mortality reviews in the event of patients’ death, and serious adverse events including, but not limited to suicide attempts and sexual assault;

  • Remains up to date with local, state, and federal guidelines and statutes, and ensures compliance by areas of specialty care, including but not limited to infection prevention, radiology, dentistry, and mental health;

  • Facilitates and supports the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) evaluation services and accreditation surveys, and maintains current certification from the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (CCHP) to ensure compliance with NCCHC standards for correctional health services;

  • Monitors and identifies trends in detainees’ health statistics, hospital send-outs, and admissions;

  • Introduces amendments to County-owned electronic health records, and assists in the compilation of bespoke reports that meet the County’s objectives;

  • Liaises between the Sheriff's department/custody leadership, health department, and accrediting body (NCCHC);

  • Assists with clearance requests for temporary access to the facility by out-of-state vendors and consultants, escorts visitors through the facility, and provides information about the range of medical services, such as the pharmacy, and medical, dental, and mental health units;

  • Assists in the compilation of Request for Proposal (RFP) documents, contracts, and contract amendments;

  • Assists and oversees transitions of correctional healthcare vendors;

  • Assists with the procurement and replacement of medical equipment when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a medical or behavioral health related field AND two years of professional level experience in coordinating, monitoring, administrating or managing program or specialized work activities.

(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

OR:

Two years of experience with Pima County in a professional administrative classification.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.): 

  • Experience with auditing, compliance review, or discrepancy resolution processes.

  • Experience producing professional written reports or documentation.

  • Experience with medical records.

  • Experience with/knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Experience working in a prison/jail facility setting.

 

Selection Procedure: 
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.      

 

Supplemental Information: 

Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.   

Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Some positions may require completion of a satisfactory personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems.
