MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from a U.S. high school, possession of a Certificate of Proficiency issued by the California State Board of Education, or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. test.
License: Possession of a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
Legality for Employment: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.
CORRECTIONAL DEPUTY TRAINEE
Age: Must be at least 18 years old by application date.
OR DEPUTY SHERIFF TRAINEE
Age: Must be at least 20 years and 9 months old at the start of the academy.

Pre-Employment

Probationary Period
As an Approved Local Merit System, all County of Riverside employees, except those serving "At Will," are subject to the probationary period provisions as specified in the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, County Resolution, or Salary Ordinance. Temporary and Per Diem employees serve at the pleasure of the agency/department head.
