About Pendleton Correctional Facility
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Pendleton Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Pendleton Correctional Facility is a maximum security Correctional facility, housing adult males. The facility is located in Pendleton, Indiana.
At Pendleton Correctional Facility, incarcerated individuals can participate in educational courses that teach them to read and allow them to earn a GED. Incarcerated individuals can receive substance abuse treatment, participate in parenting classes, stress and anger management courses, and can even learn vocational skills in auto body repair and printing.
Role Overview
As a Correctional Caseworker at the Pendleton Correctional Facility, you will coordinate case management matters and facilitate incarcerated individuals access to programs and services, working with them to create case plans, and assisting in preparing their release and re-entry process.
Salary Statement
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
• Provide guidance to offenders on issues such as job assignments, housing changes, facility transfers, and other facility procedures. • Act as a liaison between prospective employers, courts, community, and governmental agencies for the purpose of job development and release adjustment. • Assess each assigned offenders risk and needs utilizing the Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS). • Create individualized case plans that address the offenders risk and needs, track facility program and job participation, and prioritize interventions that address higher risk criminal behaviors. • Effectively document interactions with assigned offender population and the offenders progress during incarcerations. • Coordinate with all appropriate facility staff to address re-entry and release issues. • Prepare documentation related to an offenders temporary absences and progress reports, including case notes and program referrals over the course of an offenders incarceration. • Coordinate with the classification department staff to make appropriate classification recommendations for offenders. • Conduct unit orientation for newly received offenders. • Adhere to the re-entry policies to ensure all quality assurance job tasks are completed in accordance with policy.
What Youll Need for Success
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
• Possession of a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) • At least one (1) year related work experience in social work, corrections, criminal justice, or related field • Substitutions: Each one (1) year of related education may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience • Within 90 days of hire, you must obtain the Indiana Risk Assessment System Certification through the Indiana Office of Court Services • Must test negative on all drug screenings • Upon hire, the ability to successfully complete all mandatory training, including the DOC Training Program, Case management specific training, First Aid, and CPR courses • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports
This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
