Description of Work
This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution, a Medium Custody Adult Male Felon Diagnostic Processing Center located in Vanceboro, NC, with an offender population of 850, and approximately 360 staff. Employees in this class carry a caseload of offenders and meet with them semi-monthly or as frequently as needed, which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following up on offender questions and problems, and making recommendations on classification and control actions to the classification committee. Case managers may have mental health offenders on their caseload, which requires additional time to manage. In addition to regular case management duties, each case manager will also assist in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offender work assignments, education, or recreation; substance abuse programs, community volunteers, offender library and special projects involving offender art show/writing contests, volunteer banquets, as well as transition planning and coordinating. Employees in this class plan and coordinate transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community. Case managers are also often required to interact with community organizations in their performance of duties.

Salary Range: $37,377 - $65,408
