The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work
This position is located at Maury Correctional Institution in Hookerton, NC. Maury Correctional Institution is a close-custody prison housing male offenders. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 1500 offenders.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Range: $ 33,902 – $59,327

Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:
Proficient knowledge of fundamental principles, techniques and methods of behavior therapy field to include assessments, evaluations, development of goals and activities.
Proficient knowledge of behavior management techniques.
• Working knowledge of population served and of the area when required for particular job.
Demonstrated skills in writing goals and programs.
Proven ability to plan and conduct program of leisure/rehabilitative activities.
Proven ability to evaluate and document progress and to present to the Treatment Team.
Proven ability to establish rapport and relate to population served, families, colleagues and staff, community agencies and groups and variety of treatment service disciplines

Work Schedule:
**This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in psychology or other human services field from an appropriately accredited institution with several classes in psychology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Note: Positions being recruited specifically for diagnostics will require at least one year administering and/or conducting psychological testing.
