Position Overview

We are hiring a Corporate Procurement Manager- Packaging to lead packaging purchasing, supplier coordination, inventory planning, and procurement support for a high-volume manufacturing operation. This role is focused on ensuring packaging materials are sourced, planned, and available to support production needs, customer demand, cost control, and supply continuity.

The best-fit candidate is a procurement professional with experience buying or managing packaging materials, preferably poly, plastics, flexible packaging, film, bags, pouches, labels, or related packaging categories. Food and beverage manufacturing experience is helpful, but not required. Candidates from CPG, consumer products, plastics packaging, packaging distribution, manufacturing, or similar environments may be a strong fit if they understand vendor management, purchasing data, inventory planning, and the importance of keeping materials available for production.

This role requires strong purchasing judgment, analytical ability, vendor communication, and the ability to manage priorities with limited supervision. The Corporate Procurement Supervisor - Packaging will work closely with internal stakeholders, plant teams, customer service, sales, packaging vendors, and direct reports to support packaging availability, improve purchasing effectiveness, reduce excess inventory, and resolve supply issues quickly.


Responsibilities

  • Lead purchasing activity for packaging materials, with a focus on poly, plastics, flexible packaging, and related packaging categories
  • Support sourcing, vendor management, purchasing strategy, and materials availability for packaging needs
  • Forecast packaging requirements based on projected sales volume, production schedules, customer needs, and inventory levels
  • Partner with internal teams to clarify packaging requirements, timing, specifications, and supply priorities
  • Work with packaging vendors to monitor lead times, availability, pricing, quality, delivery performance, and service levels
  • Negotiate with vendors and support sourcing decisions that balance cost, service, quality, and supply continuity
  • Track purchasing metrics and supplier performance to identify cost savings, service improvements, and inventory opportunities
  • Perform cost analysis, scenario analysis, and benchmarking to support procurement decisions
  • Help reduce excess inventory, obsolete packaging, waste, and procurement-related costs
  • Identify procurement risks, supply constraints, pricing changes, and material availability issues
  • Communicate procurement delays, supplier concerns, or packaging risks in a timely and practical manner
  • Coordinate with plant teams, sales, customer service, and other internal stakeholders to keep packaging aligned with production and customer demand
  • Use purchasing data, inventory information, and business analysis to support decisions
  • Direct, coach, and support two direct reports
  • Provide workflow guidance, training, performance support, and day-to-day leadership to direct reports
  • Support continuous improvement in procurement processes, packaging planning, reporting, supplier coordination, and inventory control
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, supply chain, vendor management, inventory planning, or related business operations
  • Packaging procurement or packaging vendor management experience preferred
  • Experience with poly, plastics, flexible packaging, film, bags, pouches, labels, corrugate, or other packaging materials strongly preferred
  • CPG, consumer products, plastics packaging, packaging distribution, manufacturing, food manufacturing, or similar industry experience preferred
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and interpreting purchasing, cost, supplier, or inventory data
  • Experience working with costs, figures, purchasing metrics, supplier pricing, or inventory-related reporting
  • Experience coordinating with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Experience supporting inventory planning, purchasing strategy, materials availability, or supplier performance
  • Experience communicating procurement issues, delays, risks, or supply constraints to stakeholders
  • Experience leading direct reports, supporting team members, or guiding cross-functional work preferred
  • Strong business sense and practical purchasing judgment
  • Strong analytical and data-gathering skills
  • Ability to work with cost models, purchasing data, supplier information, and inventory metrics
  • Solid decision-making ability
  • Strong vendor communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage competing deadlines
  • Ability to identify supply risks and recommend practical solutions

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

Work Environment

This is an onsite role in Janesville, WI within a large manufacturing environment. The environment includes manufacturing and packaging activity, with a noise level that is usually moderate. Regular use of a personal computer and office equipment is required.
