Role Description

The Corporate Counsel, Manager of Risk is responsible for leading and executing the administrative components of non-workers compensation claims, managing internal and external parties, validating claim financials, and providing accurate and detailed information to all parties. The Manager of Risk works with the Legal & Risk COE ("COE") to recommend and execute upon claim strategy and risk mitigation while also being the point of contact for internal and external counterparts to communicate vital information. The Manager of Risk's ability to engage, anticipate and overcome challenges within the COE's identified risks is essential to Lithko's success. This position can be remote or hybrid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Claim Management: Coordinate the administrative tasks associated with non-workers' compensation claims through accurate and timely communication between external parties and internal parties.
  • Effectuate Claim Strategies: Effectuate claim strategies in collaboration with external parties and Safety COE in order to make recommendations that align with COE goals.
  • Financial Oversight: Prepare monthly claim financial projections and manage external parties billing and claim cost forecasting.
  • Risk Management: Coordinate the administrative tasks, track and review process adherence in relation to identified regulations and standards relevant to the COE.
  • Risk Mitigation: Collaborate with external and internal parties to reduce the likelihood or severity of negative impacts in relation to identified risks within the COE for which processes & monitoring have been established.

Tasks & Duties

Claim Management

  • Assess all non-workers compensation incidents logged and determine whether to pursue a claim
  • Effectuate strategy agreed upon with insurance carriers and internal stakeholders
  • Deliver key information to Safety & Risk Directors to aid in strategy and settlement decisions
  • Accurately post and maintain all monthly claim financial projections
  • Review and manage insurance carrier and external party performance

Risk Management

  • Assess and maintain all recordkeeping and posting requirements for OSHA compliance
  • Assess and maintain all state-specific medical panel requirements for applicable workers compensation law compliance
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders regarding all separation agreements to deliver state-specific documentation and ensure applicable processes are followed

Risk Mitigation

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to manage and ensure all company driver and motor vehicle compliance requirements are met pursuant to applicable Department of Transportation regulations
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and outside counsel to manage and validate all company-sponsored visas (PERM, H-1B, TN, etc.) pursuant to applicable immigration laws/requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Juris Doctor (JD) preferred, not required
  • 3+ years of experience in the legal, insurance, compliance or construction industry
  • Excellent and timely written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to lead and follow with equal ease, based on circumstances
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
