Job Summary: The Corporate Architect provides leadership in the planning, design oversight, and architectural coordination of campus facilities in support of the university's mission and the educational ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This role ensures that all university construction, renovation, and master planning projects align with institutional goals, campus standards, regulatory requirements, and long-term strategic development. The Corporate Architect collaborates with university administration, faculty, staff, consultants, and contractors to guide projects from concept through completion while maintaining alignment with the campus master plan and the values of Seventh-day Adventist higher education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead architectural planning and design oversight for new construction, renovations, and campus improvement projects.
  • Ensure all projects align with the university's campus master plan, architectural standards, and strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate with university leadership, facilities staff, engineers, consultants, and contractors during all project phases.
  • Generate architectural drawings, construction documents, and design proposals that are compliant and consistent with campus standards.
  • Manage and oversee external architectural and engineering consultants.
  • Participate in project budgeting, scheduling, and cost control efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, ADA regulations, life safety requirements, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Assist in long-range campus planning, land use analysis, and infrastructure development.
  • Represent the university in meetings with regulatory agencies, planning boards, and community partners when required.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of campus facilities, past projects, and standards.
  • Supervise and manage Sign Shop personnel and activities.
  • Responsible for quality control of Seating Capacities on campus and its coordination with the Class Scheduler - Colleague.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Architectural License in the state of Tennessee.
  • A proficient working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or REVIT software platforms.
  • Seven to ten years of professional architectural experience with commercial/institutional projects.
  • Knowledge of building codes, ADA compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to generate construction documents and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong knowledge of architectural design, construction methods, and building systems.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills.

Typical Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. May require

lifting up to 25-30 pounds. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed in an office environment with periodic visits to construction sites across campus. Occasional travel for professional meetings, conferences, project coordination or continuing education.
