    Houston Methodist The Woodlands is seeking a board-certified Internal Medicine physician to supervise Internal Medicine residents and serve as Core Faculty for the Internal Medicine residency program. This is a clinical faculty position with a strong focus on academic responsibilities. Responsibilities include:

    • Oversee residents in the outpatient clinic, providing direct observation, real-time feedback, and guidance on patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and communication.

    • Experience in teaching medical students and/or residents in an academic medical center or similar setting is highly desirable.

    • Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency areas in the outpatient setting.

    • Regularly facilitate and lead organized clinical discussions, including journal clubs, didactics, and patient safety conferences. 

    • Serve as role models and mentors for the residents.

    • Participate in scholarly activities with the residents, such as research (basic, clinical, or educational), quality improvement projects, case reports, and review articles.

    • Contribute to the overall development and improvement of the internal medicine residency program, particularly the outpatient component.

    • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, residents, and other healthcare professionals.


    The ideal candidate will have proficiency in teaching and precepting residents, experience in graduate medical education, and skills in research or quality improvement focused in ambulatory care settings.

    Qualifications include current certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine and eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the state of Texas.

    The faculty will be able to apply for academic titles with our Houston Methodist Academic Institute
