Summary Description: The Coordinator of Student Outreach and Connections supports the mission of Carson-Newman University by promoting student engagement for specific student populations on campus. The Coordinator of Student Outreach and Connections provides campus-wide events and resources tailored to our student population in an effort to promote a healthy, evolving campus culture and ensure all students feel seen, heard, and known in the area of campus life.
Essential Functions:

Commuter Student Population
Manage commuter check-in and the commuter social with New Student Orientation.
Host events that promote fellowship and that meet the communal need for commuter students.
Market opportunities and resources for commuter students to get involved on campus.
Advocate for common areas and spaces dedicated to students who do not have on-campus housing as a resource in-between classes.
Oversee and maintain commuter common areas and lounges.
Student Athlete Population
Attend at least one sporting event per sport in support of the players.
Collaborate with the Mossy Creek Maniacs student section and the SAAC on promoting student engagement with athletics.
Partner with other departments on encouraging best practices for the student-athlete to engage with campus life.
Plan and execute heritage month celebratory events with the Department of Student Experiences and campus partners that promote cultural awareness.
Attend any training necessary to further professional growth in understanding different cultures and demographics.
Partner with Global Education on International Student Orientation and the International Festival.
Hosting tabling events that promote campus community engagement.
Assuming the primary in-person resource for commuter students' questions, comments, and concerns.
Assisting in the planning and executing of the Fall and Spring sports pep rallies.
Semesterly surveys that inform all staff on the status of campus hospitality from the students' perspective.
Coordinate or assist with other Department or Division needs.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned and included in assessments and reviews.

Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
Experience: 1-2 years' experience working in a related field is preferred.
Required Skills: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals from various backgrounds. Requires a high-energy and self-motivated person with exceptional organization, communication, and leadership skills. An ability to plan, collaborate, and execute events and programs. Innovative and visionary qualities for new events and programming ideas. Experience in utilizing the Microsoft Office suite and social media/marketing platforms.
