Coordinator of External Partnerships

The Coordinator of External Partnerships serves as part of the Advancement department and reports to the Vice President of Advancement. The Coordinator of External Partnerships serves as a frontline relationship builder and manager. The position is responsible for developing corporate and community support for Bethel College. This includes, but is not limited to securing support for campus and athletic sponsorships, business networking opportunities, employment experience grants, internships and partnerships.

Essential Functions

General:

  • Support the mission, vision, and values of Bethel College.
  • Satisfy the duties of a Mandated Reporter relating to Title IX and the Bethel College Equal Opportunity, Harassment, & Non-Discrimination Policy and Procedures (as directed following the completion of basic employee training).

Relationship Building:

  • Work with departments like Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Athletics, Student Life, to align community relations efforts with overall college goals.
  • Identify potential new sources of support from local businesses, community organizations, corporations and foundations.
  • Connect with alumni-owned businesses locally and virtually to develop employment experience placement and graduate hiring opportunities.
  • Develop strategies to cultivate and solicit prospects.
  • Once identified, establish and maintain relationships through long-term strategic planning and collaboration with the advancement team.
  • Meaningful relationships include building packages that are reciprocal to the business and Bethel College.

Employment Experience Partnerships:

  • Develop a pipeline of business and not-for-profit partners (locally and virtually) that are interested in developing student's employable skills and funding student scholarships/grants.
  • This is a mutually beneficial role between the business, student growth and Bethel values.

Sponsorship Management:

  • Identifying potential sponsors, creating sponsorship packages that apply to departments and programs, managing on-going relationships with existing local and corporate partners.
  • Solicit advertising for monitors across campus that are relevant to students and employees.
  • Seek donations, grants as part of sponsors to support Bethel College initiatives, employment experience program funding and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) scholarships.

Workforce Development Business Partnerships:

  • Be knowledgeable about businesses regionally that might be interested in partnering with Bethel to build employee skills through WFD certificate programs and share leads with the community impact specialist.

Event Planning and Coordination:

  • Organize targeted business networks, community meetings or events as appropriate to Employment Experience, Workforce Development Certificates and sponsorships to engage with the local and regional businesses and build relationships.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Track prospect / donor moves as appropriate in donor database Jenzabar (JA) and assess the effectiveness of community relations activities, making contacts and adjustments to agreements and packages as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Student counselor assistants, student ambassadors, student callers

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 3 years of experience in fundraising, business management, direct sales/marketing

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid driver's license

Skills Required

  • General knowledge of relationship management, public relations, or nonprofit practices
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; including letters to donors, outreach materials, email campaigns, etc.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, telephone and communications skills
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office Suite and Jenzabar
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a variety of people and represent Bethel College in a positive and professional manner to all staff, visitors, donors, and the community
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and to complete and report on assignments
  • Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work as part of a close-knit team
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, diplomacy and tact
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and also remain oriented to the "big picture" and established goals
  • Excellent organizational, management, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience of professional staff and students
  • Have established ties to local community or have knowledge of local heritage

Physical Demands

  • Minimal lifting (up to 40 lbs.) and reaching
  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, and printer for extended periods of time
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one classroom or building location to another
  • Ascending and descending stairs
  • Ability to perform tasks both sitting and standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to function well in a standard office setting
  • Medium/indoor work environment
