POSITION SUMMARY:The Coordinator of Aquatic Programs plans, markets, schedule and delivers all quality YMCA water-based programs for YMCA members, participants and guests. Coordinator\u2019s will ensure all programs are in accordance with YMCA of Greater Cleveland and Y-USA standards and guidelines. The Coordinator must be knowledgeable, professional, and show concern for program all members, participants and guests. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\u2022 Will assist in the facilitation of all private swim lessons, group lessons, YMCA camps, activities as well as all outside group classes for the Safety Around Water program.\u2022 Responsible for assigning and tracking private swim lessons.\u2022 Conducts regular/ frequent sanitation of all equipment (rescue and member used), and assigned areas as outlined by the employer and supervisor. \u2022 Must cover lessons when no instructor is available.\u2022 Engage students and parents of programming.\u2022 Must track participants of private lessons in Dakxo, ensuring payments are received.\u2022 Supervise programing to ensure all YMCA of the USA curriculum and safety ratios are followed.\u2022 Assist YMCA leadership with instructor placement for YMCA camps and outside group safety programs.\u2022 Assist YMCA leadership with instructor in-service trainings including but not limited to; keeping track of certifications, training new instructors, and keeping leadership updated on staffing needs.\u2022 Markets and promotes all aquatics programs in the community using multiple methods (print, digital, social media, etc.).\u2022 Attend community events as needed\u2022 Assist with social media (Aquatics) updates, partnering with the Marketing department to ensure all social media policies and procedures are followed.\u2022 Supervise employees in assigned accountabilities, monitor site operation and scheduling.\u2022 Identify training needs and initiate development activities of supervisees. \u2022 Assure that new employee's complete orientation and training according to established guidelines and provide on the job training as required.\u2022 Notify Director of staffing needs, assist in the interview process.\u2022 Keeps employees informed as to association, branch , and department events.\u2022 Plans and works towards organizational goals.\u2022 Be actively and visibly involved with members, volunteers and staff in a positive, friendly manner that communicates and demonstrates the YMCA core values of caring, honest, respect and responsibility.\u2022 Follow all established policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety practices and personnel policies.\u2022 Participate in and support association events and fund-raising activities.\u2022 Secure and maintain required trainings and/or certifications necessary for the position. \u2022 Other duties as assigned by supervisor.\u2022 Responsible for following the child abuse and neglect reporting process including completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate Supervisor, Branch Executive, Risk Management and Human Resources Department (s). All employees of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland are mandated reporters for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. QUALIFICATIONS:Education\u2022 High school diploma required; Associates degree preferred. Experience: \u2022 Minimum of one (1) year of related experience working in aquatic programing \u2022 Minimum of one (1) year of aquatic instruction \u2022 Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience preferred Certification(s) and Requirements:\u2022 Current CPR/AED Pro, O2 Management, Current First Aid\u2022 Current Y lifeguarding or American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Instructor Certification a plus\u2022 Current Water Safety Instructor or YMCA Swim Instructor certification required. Technical Skills and Knowledge:\u2022 Must have proficient swimming skills and the ability to demonstrate freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke and butterfly, side stroke and elementary backstroke.\u2022 Willingness and ability to model the key attributes; Welcoming, Genuine, Hopeful, Nurturing and Determined. \u2022 Demonstrate commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA and uphold its values and ethics. \u2022 Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions\u2022 Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporters for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect.
